  The trip involved a hike through the forest up to the top of a large canyon, and then a descent through the canyon using ropes and harnesses to get down... read more over three waterfalls, plus jumping/swimming/hiking to get through the canyon in other places. Fernando and Cindy were great guides and we felt safe and in good hands. The jungle was absolutely beautiful and on the hike up Fernando and Cindy told us all sorts of interesting facts about the wildlife and plants and many of their traditional uses by people in the area. Our two teen sons had never done anything like this before and really felt like they'd completed an amazing adventure.

We had a... read more fantastic time. The jungle was incredible and we saw so many animals (four kinds of monkeys, tapirs, anteaters, fer-de-lance snakes, poison dart frogs, you name it). But the best part was our guide Gerson. He not only knew the name and an interesting fact about seemingly every bird, bug and plant, but he made the trip fun and engaging for our diverse group that ranged from bird-obsessed adults to decidedly non-bird-obsessed teens. The food at the station was generous and delicious, and while the sleeping quarters were pretty tight overall the station was well-run and organized. Working with Cindy in advance to arrange the trip was also a great experience - she is super organized, answers questions patiently and had the lowest price of the three companies that I got quotes from. If I could give them six stars I would!

And what an addition it was! Our guide was super friendly, nice, patiënt en showed us so many animals! We even saw a deer, squirrel monkeys, two anteaters and two tapirs! So amazing. We had the best time and we really felt like this was the best ending of our Costa Rica trip as possible.

  I have done a few tours with Tropical Escapade during my time in Costa Rica so far, and they all have been amazing experiences! I went on a guided hike... read more near Corcovado National Park and saw a ton of wildlife! Carlos, my guide, was able to tell me what every spider, snake, and animal was that we came across. I also had a hands on experience processing cacao by hand, which was so fun and something I'll never forget! Cindy was my guide for that process, as well as hiking to a waterfall in the area which was beautiful and super remote! My group had the place to ourselves while we were there. Overall I've had awesome experiences with Tropical Escapade, and will book more tours through them while I'm in Costa Rica!

  Mangrove Kayak Tour

I’m probably in the minority of tourists here on the Osa Peninsula. Animal spotting happens everywhere here, on any tour. And while that’s cool, I just... read more love being inside the mangrove forest. So this kayak tour up river into the heart of the mangroves was magical.
Kayaking allows you to be unclose to these otherworldly trees. The delicate, spider-legged root systems of the red mangroves seemed to lift the dense forest over a meter above the surface of the water in defiance of gravity, forming a window into the forest. Above clusters of dark-green leaves spiraled like playing cards. Just beyond, the tea and white mangroves rose upward arching over the river from both sides. We paddled upriver, until the “river” was little more than a creek and we were surrounded. I learned that mangroves serve many different functions for the protection of the shoreline for humans, wildlife and even for the coral reefs.
Yes, we also saw squirrel monkeys, ibis and even a crocodile. But if you are flexible and want to maximize your tour, ask Cindy for advice on the tides, the moon and the time of day. This tour can also include bioluminesce, sunset paddling in the gulf and more animals, including dolphins.
However, for me the mangrove forest itself is the star of the show.

We did tarzan swinging and cliff jumping and Rosi and Fernando went out of their way to take the perfect pictures of us and made sure everything was absolutely wonderful. I thought it might be a little tame as we had two children that were too young to do the full canyoning tour, but it wasn't! Fernando was always there to help anyone who needed it across rocks and even climbed up a tree to show us some fruit. I'm sure Fernando will make this tour as exciting and informative as you can handle. If I could give this tour more than 5 stars I would!

Canyoning is a non-stop... read more adventure with hiking, jumping, and canyoning! - Booking with Cindy is a breeze leaving you with nothing to do but enjoy your adventure to the fullest. Fernando met me at the Golfito boat dock. We connected right away with great conversations! - Fernando immersed me on our hike with incredible insight into the forest and life. I learned about Velcro + Tococo plants and more! We finished the hike with an incredible dip in a waterfall!! Yes, please! - I went canyoning for the first time earlier this year, but I could tell this adventure is more advanced right away with more challenging waterfalls/canyons. Not to mention, on all three waterfalls, we experienced three trees that had fallen in various places. I let Fernando know to treat me like a newbie! He gave a great overview and safety briefing! - Like with any adventure sport do it at our own risk. On my first rappel, I slipped twice with the tree and waterfall taking a few souvenirs home lol. Canyoning is an all in type of sport - one way in and one way out. Fernando quickly adapted increasing his support and guidance on the next two waterfalls and the entire experience. I welcomed all of it! Even though the slips did impact me, Fernando's professionalism calm demeanor, and added support helped me continue on. Not only that, I quickly found myself laughing immersed in joy in every way embracing it all! I loved having the one on one experience to learn more. I continued on the extreme adventure without a hitch! I highly recommend Tropical Escapade and the team!!!

The hike up to the rappelling was fairly challenging, but Fernando paused a few times during the hike to provide interesting information about various plants along the way. Rappelling down three waterfalls was an awesome experience. Our wives and som other ladies joined us for the Tarzan Swing and everyone had loads of fun with multiple swings out over the jungle.   Guide was very helpful and found tons of animals around the place. The trip was easy and pleasant. The waterfall in the end of the hike was fascinating.

I went canyoning for the first time earlier this year, but I could tell this adventure is more advanced right away with more challenging waterfalls/canyons. Not to mention, on all three waterfalls, we experienced three trees that had fallen in various places.

I let Fernando know to treat me like a newbie! He gave a great overview and safety briefing!
