In this adrenaline-packed escapade, you’ll hike along one of Golfito’s lesser-traveled mountain paths, offering excellent opportunities to spot wildlife. The adventure unfolds within a protected rainforest, with most of the trail tracing the edge of a ridge and climbing about 150 meters (500 feet) in elevation.

As you advance, the landscape shifts into lush evergreen forest, and the chorus of birds gradually gives way to the soft patter of water droplets. That’s your cue to gear up with harness and helmet and get ready for an exhilarating rush.

Cool off after a heat-beating hike with a refreshing plunge into a natural jacuzzi. As you look up, the water cascades from as high as the eye can see through the dense forest canopy.

While you’re soaking and recharging, your guide will share important instructions for canyoning. Mastering the proper rappelling technique will allow you to fully enjoy the adventure. And if your guide notices that you’re confident on the falls, he may even surprise you with a few of his special tricks.

After the first rappel, continue with a mix of sliding and walking over rocky, uneven terrain, all while keeping an eye out for colorful poison dart frogs. The excitement builds as you descend alongside more waterfalls, each tumbling into sparkling fresh pools that invite you to pause and marvel at the rainforest’s beauty.

Weave between boulders and sturdy logs as the river narrows for the final rappel. From the top, it may look the most intimidating—even though it’s only a few meters high—which is why it often becomes the favorite of many adventurers. The thrill comes from the unknown: you can’t see what’s behind the waterfall until you pass through it. The only thing to do is trust the technique you’ve practiced on the previous rappels and follow your guide’s instructions. Once at the bottom, take a deep breath, step forward, and let the cascade wash over you for a truly unforgettable finish.
